Although it does not communicate directly with Snap-on ® diagnostic scan tools, the TPMS2 makes a great companion product to the scan tools. The tool combination gives users to power to communicate to both the TPMS sensors (via RF signals from the TPMS2) and the ECU/ECM on the vehicle (using an OBD-II compliant scan tool).

Might explain why its been for sale for so longThat's the basis for the problem. It's been around for so long that it can't begin to encompass the parameters on the later engines say in the last 8-10 years. With a diagnostic software program like Rinda or Mercury's CDS (which only dealers can buy through SPX etc) you can view real time data while running and also record it at the same time. For instance, if you have an active map problem at a specific rpm, the DDT will ONLY throw a code.
It can not show other parameters simultaneously while faulting. This feature gives you a way better shot at figuring out issues. Also, the communication protocol is much slower on a serial cable than that of a usb. You can graph with Diacom, pull cylinders off line while graphing, use suedo tach for verification, you can use the movie file while running to fine tune your engine in terms of propping and finding kpa differences between map and baro etc.
If you need to watch several items all at the same time, you can opt to enlarge them and place them on your screen so they can be viewed while bouncing around in a boat. You can isolate accessories like fuel pump, iac. You can test sensors with test lead kit vs.
Just throwing parts at an engine. On and on, it's just a way nicer and still very cost comparable option. Sorry if it sounded like I was knocking your opinion for trying to help.
I've spent a lot of time with these systems and just wanted to help as you did. The files from Rinda can be shared and emailed to others allowing you to get help and ideas from others if you prefer. This tool is EXCELLENT for saving the entire history of your engine. For instance, every time I change oil etc, I save a scan of the computer. You can customize your notes and really have a nice picture to show the next guy who buys your boat or engines. It saves serial numbers on engines along with customer or user data so you can keep close track of multiple engine applications and the like. The help files are pretty intuitive.
You have a list of terms, acronyms and definitions. Just plain better for roughly same money. And, you're not buying 20 year old technology.
